Abstract :
A new design for long-radiating-slotline antennas is proposed for improving the antenna gain. In the proposed design, by properly etching nonradiating open-circuit slots and crossovers along the axis of a radiating slot, this electrically long slot performs as a series of half-wavelength slot dipoles. The aperture field on each slot dipole forms an in-phase electric field standing, wave distribution. As a result the proposed design allows a long slotline to achieve a high gain. Moreover, by properly adjusting the layout parameters this antenna can achieve improved broadband operation. Design aspects of the proposed antenna are presented and the simulated and measured results are compared and discussed
