Abstract :
A method for analyzing the field in the coil region of permanent-magnet axial-field motors is presented. The method entails the use of a theoretically derived two-dimensional field formula coupled with a semiempirical procedure for specifying the magnetic state of the motor magnet. This method enables rapid parametric studies of field strength relative to variations in motor dimensions and magnet materials. It is applied to a motor with a ceramic magnet, and excellent agreement is demonstrated between the computed and measured data
