Abstract :
The coercivity of melt-spun Pr-Fe-B magnets has been found to increase with small additions of Al, Cu, and Zn. Systematic high-resolution electron microscope (HREM) observations were carried out to reveal the structural changes that might occur with these substitutions. Cu additions lead to planar imperfections which are found locally along (001) planes of the 2:14:1 main phase. Similar planar imperfections were also found in the sintered magnets with the same additions. This behavior might be attributed to the immiscibility of the added elements with Fe during alloying
