Abstract :
A method of AC loss measurement for an air-core superconducting transformer is introduced. By using this method, the AC loss of an experimental transformer has been measured. Based on this, an equivalent circuit which includes losses has been proposed, and the validity of this equivalent circuit has been confirmed by experiment. From the results of loss analysis by using this equivalent circuit, it has become clear that the loss characteristics of an air-core superconducting transformer are seriously affected by the magnetic coupling factor.
