Abstract
Even with laminae much thinner than skin depth, eddy currents can circulate between magnetic laminates by displacively coupling across the dielectric layers separating them. An equivalent circuit model (ECM) is developed in which the effect of displacement eddy currents is included in the magnetic response of a small laminated magnetic object. The ECM provides an alternative to the anisotropic effective media model for including the effects of displacement eddy currents on the complex initial permeability of magnetic laminates. The model provides excellent agreement with experiment up to the initial resonance in the response. With the ECM, the impact of displacement eddy currents on the response of a laminated magnetic object can be readily estimated from a simple circuit calculation
