Abstract :
Reports mainly on work carried out at Heriot-Watt University concerning the `integration´ of proprietary CAD/CAM software in order to produce turned parts from initial design data with minimal operator input. Libraries of standard parts are often responsible for the usage of a large amount of processor memory. One solution to this problem is to regenerate the graphics of each part using a parametric-routine. This means that the standard part is regenerated as a new entity group, as opposed to being retrieved from the database and inserted into the active CAD 2-3 file
