Abstract :
A considerable body of research has focused for some time on the problem of determining the magnitude of magnetic interparticle interactions in particulate recording media. The authors introduce a novel method of quantifying these interactions and compare the findings with earlier studies. The present method appears to be effective in determining interaction fields in particulate media, at least in the case of negatively interacting particulates. It is noted that, despite its platelet morphology, this technique also includes nonoriented barium ferrite, although in this particular case, the linearization process is somewhat less effective
