Abstract
An experimental and theoretical study of transverse susceptibility in recording media has been carried out. The theoretical model has been set up using a system of Stoner-Wohlfarth particles and predicts a broad peak around the anisotropy field and a hysteresis in the system dependent on the direction of field sweep. Experimental results exhibit these effects, and comparison of theory with experiment shows that the hysteresis may be dependent on the reversal mechanisms
