Abstract :
Decision theory\´s goal is to use knowledge coupled with related analytical techniques to help the "decision maker" choose among a set of alternatives based on their possible consequences. Certainty, risk and uncertainty are the three main conditions under which decisions can be made. Certainty means that a given choice leads to one and only one consequence. Risk means each choice has several possible consequences and the probability of occurrence for each consequence is known. Uncertainty means choices are being made without knowing what the consequences for each choice actually will be.
