Abstract :
A modified version of the maximum shortening signal-to-noise ratio (MSSNR) algorithm for channel shortening in ultra-wideband (UWB) communication systems is presented. The proposed algorithm introduces two additional UWB channel related parameters in the optimisation problem along with the conventional energy criterion. This modification significantly improves the performance of the conventional MSSNR algorithm and enables it to handle the extreme nature of channel shortening needed in UWB systems. The proposed algorithm outperforms the conventional MSSNR algorithm in terms of different comparative parameters
