Abstract
The expressions for the impedance of a dipole-an element of an infinite phased array antenna placed over the planar boundary between the media (the upper being vacuum or air, and the lower a reflecting one) are derived. The characteristics of the lower medium are represented by the Fresnel coefficients for plane waves of two polarizations; the array elements are narrow flat dipoles having sinusoidal current distributions along their lengths.
