Abstract
The effects of sputtered Ni3P-sublayer on the magnetic and recording properties of CoNiCr/Cr thin-film media are reported. The effect of Ni3P-sublayer on the hysteretic properties varied with the type of substrate and the sample location on the disk. The addition of a Ni3P-sublayer was shown to decrease the coercivity H c of textured NiP/Al disk, while increasing the H c of glass-ceramic disks. The Ni3P-sublayers on glass-ceramic disks were shown to promote c-axis in-plane orientation and thus increase signal outputs. The medium noise also tends to decrease by Ni3P-sublayers
