Abstract
The problems encountered in decentralized control are identified, and an informal description is given of how expert-systems techniques can help in addressing some of them. A model of a distributed system is given, the characteristics of a distributed intelligent resource manager are discussed, and the architecture of an expert manager currently being built is described.<>
