Abstract
The characteristic equation for a TE10P (P =even or odd number) rectangular cavity loaded by a ferrite slab in the middle has been derived on the basis of electromagnetic theory. This characteristic equation is used in a novel measurement technique for microwave permeability and permittivity with improved precision, because of elimination of the error caused by the perturbation approximation. Considerable computational analysis and experimental research have been done using the characteristic equation method
