Abstract :
Control rooms are a key aspect of the safety and efficiency of nuclear power plants (NPP). Their design and the operational practices they support are key aspects of modernizing existing NPPs and meeting the high safety and availability targets set for advanced plant designs. This paper presents a brief history of NPP control room development, and discusses control room improvements planned for the next generation of NPPs
