Abstract
Investigates a type of microstrip line on a pair of yttrium-iron-garnet (YIG) films grown on both sides of a gadolinium-gallium-garnet substrate and sandwiched between two dielectric slabs. Transmission characteristics of the line show coupling phenomena between quasi-TEM (transverse electromagnetic) and magnetostatic surface wave modes. A sharp notch characteristic is observed experimentally with a half-power bandwidth of 11.8 MHz and maximum attenuation of 20 dB at 6.95 GHz for 13.5-μm-thick films. Alternatively, in the same line with an air gap a bandpass characteristic is observed with quality factor of 1000 and insertion loss of 10 dB at 6.5 GHz
