Abstract :
A new method for calculating the inductance (and hence the "stored energy") of the horizontal coil of a magnetic deflection yoke is reported. It is a very accurate method and can be applied to any conventional coil design. The method is based on a direct calculation of inductance in terms of flux linkage through the turns of the coil. The calculated numerical values of inductance of two yokes tested are found to be in very good agreement with the measured values.
