Abstract :
It is a great honor to serve as the new Editor-in-Chief of this prestigious journal at the request of the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTTS). I humbly accept this great responsibility and make a pledge that I will do my best to increase the value and impact this journal has to our readers and our society in general. The purpose of this journal is to provide fast publication of original and significant contributions in the microwave and wireless technology areas, covering the frequency range from a few MHz to THz and infrared. The articles are limited to 3 pages formatted according to the IEEE rules and guidelines. As such, these articles are meant to be more concise than regular transactions articles, but they must follow the organization and have the same quality of transactions paper with enough information for our readers to understand and use the described technology. A very important consideration for our authors is to clearly describe the advancement and uniqueness of their work with respect to the state of the art that can be found in the open literature, including their own work. Failure to do so not only weakens the quality of the article and jeopardizes its chances for publication, but also delays the publication process. In addition, experimental results should accompany the proposed method, structure, component, circuit, topology, module and/or system. Articles that do not include measurements verifying their theory will be rejected without review. An exception to this rule are articles focused on new numerical techniques where a comparison of results with those of other well-established numerical techniques can be provided. However, authors are encouraged to include some experimental verification in those too. I would also like to remind our authors and readers that this journal is not meant to publish advertisements for commercial products, nor material that has been previously published elsewhere (conferences or journals). Authors ar- also cautioned to properly cite their own previously published work in the area of interest, and avoid using material from other papers without the proper citations. When another article is cited, grammatical overlaps should also be minimized. Our submissions have now reached an average of 95 articles/month and many more reviewers (and from new areas) are solicited to provide technical feedback. In addition, I have asked fourteen Associate Editors to join me in assisting me with the ever increasing workload and their biographies are provided.
