Abstract
For a long time a need has existed for an inexpensive, highly reliable, optical "wand" with extremely fine resolution, to provide the capability of very dense bar code reading. This need has been fulfilled through the development of a wand that was initially used in conjunction with a speaking learning aid. To date, approximately 100,000 of these wands have been manufactured and used with the initially intended learning aid, but uses with other existing products, and with future products are already planned.
