Abstract
This paper presents a capacitive sensor conception, which allows for the measurement of the particle velocity in a pneumatically conveyed material flow. The feature of proposed conception is the use of only one single measurement layer perpendicular to the flow, which results in a cost-effective and compact sensor design. Two possible sensor topologies are analyzed and their applicability for noninvasive velocity estimation in pneumatic conveying are discussed. Both simulations and measurement results for the particle velocity in dilute phase flow are presented
