Abstract :
Teacher shortages have been widely reported, as has been the flow of graduates shunning academic careers in favour of the lure of industry. Pay may be the prevailing issue here, acknowledges Professor Alan Bramley of the School of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bath, but a lack of understanding of lectureships can also contribute. He puts forward a scheme by which engineering graduates can experience what both sides have to offer.
