Abstract
A method for the automated and accurate calculation of the winding eddy losses, as well as the stray losses in the tank walls, core support frame, lockplates, and the core laminations in core-form power transformers is described. Comparisons between this method, test values, and other analytical results are presented for a number of commercial transformers. These comparisons prove the validity of the method and the superior accuracy it provides. The calculations provide an accurate estimate of the relative contribution of the various loss components to the total load losses of the transformer. Hence, it can be used to evaluate methods of reducing these losses. This capability is demonstrated
