Abstract
The construction of a mosaic of very small proportional counters consisting of high-atomic-number cathodes with conventional thin axial wire anodes was previously proposed1 for improvement of the time resolution and data rate of multiwire positron cameras and similar devices which are useful in medical diagnosis. In this paper, we show that the physical construction and electrical connections of the mosaic described are simpler than anticipated, and that manufacturing prospects compare favorably with those for multiwire chambers. The performance data of prototypes will be reported in a forthcoming issue of this journal.
