Abstract :
Within a future high definition TV-system the display offers most severe problems if we are aiming at an extended HDTV capable of transmitting pictures for "Telepresence" on large screens viewed from a distance of two times picture height or equal to the diagonal (e.g. 100"). A projection technology is thus required combining very high resolution and very high light output which is not availably today for consumer applications.
