Abstract :
The historic context, technical requirements, and current performance of power system analysis tools are reviewed. The focus of this discussion is on the evolution and future direction of computer analysis of power systems, concentrating on transmission system planning and operation. Physical design, protection coordination, and generation planning issues will be referred to only in this context. The physical characteristics of electric power systems, their problems, and how today´s power system analysis tools respond to these requirements are reviewed.<>
