Abstract
A spectrum-to-exposure rate conversion function was obtained for a 73cm3 closed-end coaxial Ge(Li) in-situ environmental gamma-ray spectrometer. Basically, a total exposure rate at the detector position (usually 100cm height above the ground) can be induced from the in-situ Ge(Li) gamma-ray pulse height distribution without knowing the source distributions when this function is used. The total exposure rates induced by this method and by the HASL method (H.L. Beck, et al; HASL-258 (1972)) for an in-situ gamma-ray spectrum measured on the lawn between Machine Shop and Storehouse in JAERI were 4.35 ¿R/h and 4.00¿R/h, respectively.
