Abstract :
A computer-based systems design is presented in which state of the art technology is used to enhance plant operability and availability. This paper presents the design goals of the Advanced Control Concept and discusses the specific computer implementation in the areas of remote data acquisition, essential alarm and display systems, supervisory systems, and reactor protection systems. Design techniques used to achieve high equipment availability, operator interface enhancement, flexibility and maintainability are addressed.
