Abstract :
The problem of synthesizing controls which minimize a linear functional of time and fuel is considered. A triple integrator system is treated, and the optimal synthesis is obtained by exploiting a scaling property of the system which facilitates analysis in a two-dimensional reduced state space (Fuller [6]).
