Abstract :
The far-field physical optics scattering integral for scatter from a surface element S is an area integral evaluated over S. This integral can be reduced to a contour integral evaluated around the boundary edge of S when the Gaussian curvature of S is everywhere equal to zero. Such surface elements include regions on planes, cylinders, cones, and, more generally, any type of developable surface.
