Abstract :
A complete model of the self-commutated synchronous machine is presented, considering the variable saturation effects in the machine. First, equations for the saturated synchronous machine are developed. Then the thyristor inverter-electric machine set is modeled to derive all the equations for both conduction and commutation. A computer simulation of the model from these equations is compared with experimental results when variable saturation is taken into account and when it is neglected. The results of the simulation program are presented. The simulation predicted the experimental results with a high degree of accuracy
