  • Abstract
    The effect of background gases, helium, neon, and argon, and the length of the gain medium on the laser power of the Cd I and CdII lasers in segmented plasma excitation and recombination configurations contained in a sealed discharge tube are presented. The small-signal gain of the laser is measured and compared with the theoretical model.<>
