Abstract :
The development of a digital computer program for calculating transmission line closing transients in the frequency domain is described. This technique provides very accurate results by taking into account the frequency dependence of the line parameters, in a natural manner. The applicability of the digital program to practical cases is demonstrated by comparing the results with those obtained in the time domain by means of the electromagnetic transients program (EMTP). The effects of the number of harmonics included in the calculation on both the accuracy and the computer time is also analyzed
