Abstract :
In the paper by Secchi (IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics , vol. 12, no. 6, pp. 696-702, Dec. 2007), the authors claim that the presented industrial application demonstrates the effectiveness of their framework for the object-oriented modeling of complex computer-controlled physical systems. They claim that the proposed language aims to increase multidisciplinary approaches to the design of logic controllers for industrial processes and mechatronic systems. In this letter, it is argued that the open issues and inconsistencies that exist in the described approach, i.e., the framework and the methodology, raise many questions about the effectiveness of the proposed approach and the existence of the framework as well as their successful application in the presented industrial application.
