Abstract
In view of several potential applications in multivariable two-dimensional (2-D) systems theory, the questions of existence and nonuniqueness of solutions along with scopes for recursive computation when existence is guaranteed, are investigated. Attention is directed towards the exploitation of a block Hankel-Hankel matrix structure that can be used to characterize the problem. Some known results on 1-D and 2-D scalar cases as well as the very recently presented 1-D matrix case result fall out nicely as special cases of the research reported here.
