Abstract
The authors present results of a simulation of gamma-ray interactions in a high-purity germanium detector (HPGe). Gamma-ray interactions have been divided into Compton events which leave only part of their energy in the detector were examined on a pulse-by-pulse basis. The simulation showed that rejecting all waveforms with trailing edges of less than 50 ns improved the peak-to-Compton ratio by a factor of two and in addition, flattened the remaining Compton edges
