Abstract :
The GeE´ defect concentration in MCVD germanosilicate preforms, as measured by cathodoluminescence profiles, is dramatically reduced by the addition of phosphorus as a codopant. The GeE´ concentration is increased by using higher deposition temperatures and oxygen deficient conditions.<>
