Abstract :
The combination of serial scan of the input buffer, with hierarchical monitoring to permit quantum jumps of the scan over blocks without data, followed by parallel transfer of encoded addresses to CAMAC registers permits transfer rates on the order of a few microseconds per event. The addition of FIFO buffers to the associated CAMAC registers permits the system to operate at its highest instantaneous speed for a few events close together in time, even though that speed is well in excess of the maximum rate of CAMAC transfer.
