Abstract :
A distributed feedback p-substrate partially inverted buried heterostructure (DFB-PPIBH) laser was improved in the cutoff frequency f/sub c/. The measured f/sub c/ (4.3 GHz) roughly coincided with the calculated value (3.9 GHz). With the modified DFB-PPIBH laser, a good eye pattern was observed under 5 Gbit/s nonreturn-to-zero (NRZ) modulation.<>
