Abstract :
A novel kind of planar monopole broadband antenna with a parasitic radiator is presented. Measurements show that the bandwidth of the monopole antenna has been considerably improved with a parasitic element earthed with a matching inductor. The achieved impedance bandwidth reaches over 85% for VSWR≤2, and the measured radiation patterns have little distortion when the frequency changes. The impedance bandwidth parameters are compared for different dimensions of ground planes
