Abstract :
We describe ground support equipment (GSE) which has been used on ground for complete test and checkout of scientific instruments to be flown on scientific satellites. The GSE is of modular design; several modules are for general use in a variety of programs for fairly different types of instruments. Only a few modules, which simulate a particular satellite system, have to be re-designed if the GSE is to be used in another project. The software concept is briefly described. More extended use of the GSE in future space projects is suggested in particular during system tests and during flight operations.
