Abstract :
Leading laptop computer companies have had to recall batteries in their computers. Because Dell was the first, many people thought that there was a problem solely with Dell´s computers, but later Apple announced a recall, followed by Toshiba, Fujitsu, and Levono. To date, over 7.5 million batteries have been recalled, and this number will surely continue to rise. The problem is with Sony-manufactured batteries (battery packs). Sony has encouraged a dozen manufacturers around the world to participate in the effort to remove these batteries from service. The recall is related to battery packs unexpectedly losing power under normal operating conditions, but also involves batteries suffering a short circuit which can cause them to overheat and catch fire
