  • Abstract
Low firing Y5V multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLC) based on the low firing dielectrics Pb(Fe/sub 2/3/W/sub 1/3/)/sub 0.41/(Fe/sub 1/2/Nb/sub 1/2/)/sub 0.49/Ti/sub 0.1/O/sub 3/ were fabricated. The prepared Y5V MLC can be sintered at temperatures of 870 to 930 degrees C. Such a low firing temperature makes it possible to use Pd/Ag (10/90) as the internal electrode. Consequently, capacitor cost becomes lower. The dielectric properties of a fabricated MLC change sharply with DC bias. A fabricated 0.33- mu F 1206 size 50-V Y5V MLC features high volumetric efficiency (110 mu F/cm/sup 3/), low-loss tangent, (or=10/sup 3/ M Omega ), low aging rate (or=25.5 kV/mm). Possible explanations for the effect of bias and frequency on the dielectric properties are given.<>
