Abstract :
Polycrystalline Y-Ba-Cu-O thin films were deposited on alumina and sapphire substrates by using a metallo-organic decomposition method. The metallo-organic precursors of yttrium, barium, and copper metal-carboxylates were synthesized and dissolved in a common solvent to make the ink. The ink was deposited by a multilayer spin-on coating technique followed by a thermal treatment. The treated films were polycrystalline, and the electrical results showed an onset temperature of about 90 K and a zero resistance temperature of 75 K. After thermal decomposition of the film in air at 925 degrees C and annealing in oxygen, a superconductive YBa/sub 2/Cu/sub 2/O/sub 7-x/ film was obtained. The principle of this method is discussed.<>
