Abstract
Partially conducting polymers are investigated for high voltage outdoor insulation as a possible solution to the pollution flashover p-roblems. The polymers studied include polyurethane, Silicone rubber and epoxies. Silicon carbide was added to achieve electrical conduction. Composite materials have been developed which show promise for the proposed application. Results of the investigation are discussed.
