Abstract :
The maximum power overshoot in gain-clamped erbium-doped fibre amplifier has been modelled and investigated from a laser point of view. It is found that by mismatching the relaxation frequency of cascaded amplifiers the transient power excursion and the relative-intensity noise can be tailored.
