  • Abstract
Joint source-channel (JSC) decoding in impulsive noise environments, such as, e.g., power line and digital subscriber line communications, but also mobile radio scenarios, is examined. Four possible approaches to the a-priori metric processing in JSC decoders, avoiding potential numerical instabilities, are illustrated and compared with respect to the achievable performance.
