Abstract
A technique for the location of partial discharges in transformers and reactors is described. The unique nature of the terminal voltage waveform resulting from a discharge occurring at a particular position along the winding is exploited to give the required location information. This waverorm is compared with waveform sets obtained by calibration, using cross-correlation techniques. The results of preliminary experiments are presented and areas of further development are outlined.
