Abstract :
The phenomenological analysis of the weak-strong instability for an electron storage ring is developed. The vertical size of the weak beam is found to depend on two machine parameters: ¿¿, which is proportional to ¿Q, and b, which depends on the aspect ratio of the strong beam. The model also contains one fitting parameter. Experimental consequences of such dependence are discussed.
