Abstract :
The response of CaF2: Tm thermoluminescent dosimeters to 14 MeV neutrons produced at the NRL Cyclotron has been investigated. CaF2: Tm has two dominant glow peaks, one at 140°C and one at 250°C. The 250°C peak is preferentially filled by neutron irradiation which leads to the possibility of using this material as a dosimeter for mixed gamma and neutron fields. Energy dependence, fading, and linearity of response of the dosimeter is shown along with other characteristics of the material.
