Abstract :
Fast neutron activation analysis has considerable potential for providing assay and trace element information in a variety of research pursuits. In an attempt to identify the areas where the technique is preferred to available alternates the Radiation Research Laboratory has been involved in an ongoing program which incorporates the analytical information provided by the neutron generator facility with publications describing similar efforts by others. Investigations have included neutron energy and spatial flux distribution, nuclide interactions and minimum sensitivities, interference reactions, and applied research in several multidisciplinary projects. An overview of the program and a summary of the noteworthy applications are presented herein.
